Weibel Avenue Ice Rink
The Saratoga Springs Figure Skate Club welcomes the public to its 9th Annual First Night Exhibition. The event begins at 3pm on Wednesday December 31st and admission is FREE. Skaters of all levels will entertain to musical selections including "Love Story". The opening number will be performed by Justin Morrow and Kate Wyble, 2008 U.S. Eastern Sectional Champions.
FIRST NIGHT OPENING CEREMONY AND FIREWORKS -- 5:30 pm - Join us for an opening celebration on Broadway at 5:30 pm outside the City Center. Local dignitaries kick-off an evening to be remembered! Fire dancers, fire eaters, and drummers, plus an “ice castle” gazebo commence our “Fire and Ice”-themed event!

SARATOGA STATE PARK! FIRELIGHT FOR 2009 - OUT WITH OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!
The State Park will play host to a myriad of activities to set your night on fire—literally! Watch the dazzling luminaria glow of a hot air balloon from Windrifter Ballooning on the lawn near the Little Theater venue from 7-9 pm, and then at 9:40 pm the park area just west of the Saratoga Automobile Museum will play host to the Cosmic Karma Fire Spinners performance preceding the 10 pm burning of a 25’ figure “8”---to end 2008 and welcome in 2009 with gusto!
There are three performance sites in this area and plenty of parking---with acts from 6 til 10---a mini-First Night in the park! Stay all evening, or hop on the shuttle buses that will stop all night until after the fireworks downtown at midnight!
Chef Christopher Allen Tanner, CEC, a culinary-instructor from Schenectady County Community College will be carving an ice sculpture for Saratoga First Night along with a group of his students whom are members of the school's American Culinary Federation (ACF) Knowledge Bowl Competition Team. The team will be competing in Boston during February representing the NY Capital District Region at the ACF Northeast Regional Convention.

The First Night “Winter Wonder Wagon” will transport
revelers from the Broadway area to Beekman
St. and back again, making continuous rounds all
throughout the evening! Pick up your ride at the
corner of Federal and Congress Streets, in front of
the National Grid building, and experience
Saratoga’s own wonderful “West Side Story”!

FIREWORKS AT MIDNIGHT! -NEW LOCATION!!! Congress Park!! FIRE DANCERS AND DRUMMERS 11:30 - MIDNIGHT NEAR THE CAROUSEL Our dazzling midnight display by Alonzo Fireworks has been moved due to construction in the location on Lake Ave. used in past years. The new location is in Congress Park! While the park itself cannot be entered during First Night, the best viewing will be on peripheral streets around that area and particularly in a blocked off reserved parking lot on Spring Street across from the Carousel.
